[ARCHIVED] Mayors Message September 2017

Mayor Steve MacDougall

It is hard to believe another school year is in session. Once again, the Lexington Police Department is working hard to educate citizens on proper School Zone Safety. Officers are monitoring traffic within the school zones and focused on educating and directing parents and guardians to the proper drop off, pickup and parking areas when traveling on and off of school campuses.

This year also includes the addition of two new schools, as we recently annexed New Providence Elementary School and River Bluff High School. The Town now has six school resource officers dedicated to the seven schools within our service area, helping to provide a safe and secure academic environment for our students.

Additionally, the Community Action Team and department officers will be working sporting events at River Bluff High School. We are excited for this opportunity to engage with our community and provide safety to our residents and guests traveling for athletic activities.

Council and I look forward to another great school year in Lexington and wish all the students’ success this academic year!
