The Town of Lexington is holding a Groundbreaking Ceremony for Icehouse on Main, which once constructed will complete the overall vision for the Icehouse Project.
Who: Town of Lexington, Craig Otto Architect and Southern Visions Realty
What: Groundbreaking Ceremony for Icehouse on Main
When: Wednesday, March 23 at 10 a.m. (This is a rain or shine event)
Where: 105 West Main Street, Lexington – located in the empty lot beside Alodia’s
Additional Information: Icehouse on Main will be a two story, 12,575 square foot multi-use structure. The first floor includes retail space and a yet-to-be-announced restaurant, with offices located on the second floor. Icehouse on Main will complete the overall Icehouse Project, which is a result of the Town’s Vision Plan. The Vision Plan was passed by Council in May of 2012 and the Town purchased this property that same year. The goal of this project was to: revitalize downtown, provide connectivity and improve quality of life for the community. In 2015 the Town broke ground on the Icehouse Amphitheater and the venue opened in October of 2016. The most recent addition to the property happened in 2020 when construction began on the Icehouse Amphitheater Pavilion, which opened in early 2021. Previously, the site was home to an ice plant in the 1920’s before becoming a propane distributorship in 1970.
