[ARCHIVED] 2021 Memorial Day 'Buckle Up, South Carolina' Campaign

Chief Terrence Green would like to notify the Town of Lexington community that the Lexington Police Department, along with law enforcement agencies statewide, will be participating in the 2021 Memorial Day Buckle Up, South Carolina campaign which begins today, with officers conducting safety belt enforcement activities through Sunday, June 6, 2021.

For the next two weeks, Traffic Division and Patrol Division officers will be focused on safety belt enforcement, and officers will be working together on several saturation events specifically looking for violations of South Carolina’s primary safety belt law.

The Buckle Up, South Carolina mobilization falls under the South Carolina Department of Public Safety initiative to end all highway fatalities. This campaign combines high-visibility enforcement with heightened public awareness through advertising and publicity.

The ‘100 Deadly Days of Summer’ fall between the Memorial Day and Labor Day holidays and anyone riding within a motor vehicle, both day and night, are asked to always use their safety belt to greatly decrease their chance of injury or death in the event of a collision.

Please visit the South Carolina Department of Public Safety website for more information on the Buckle Up, South Carolina campaign.
