Construction continues to widen North Lake Drive in front of Lexington Elementary School. The new traffic configuration and added lane headed out of town is a continuation of our One-Way Pair project. This is Phase 2 of 3 for traffic improvements in this corridor and will significantly improve traffic flow.
Over the course of the next few weeks, Azalea Drive will be closed to traffic in order to construct the new Azalea Dr. and Harmon St. intersection. This will give access to Lexington Elementary School and once it's completed, construction will resume on North Lake Drive.
If you've driven past Gibson Pond Park, you've seen the progress being made ahead of its reopening. The bridge has been installed and now our Parks Department is working to get the rest of the park cleaned up and ready for the grand opening. They've built a new dock and a new picnic shelter to replace the one that had to be removed for the construction of the new dam. Make sure you follow our Facebook page for details on when the park will be open to the public.
And finally, don't forget to come and celebrate Independence Day with us on Friday, July 2 at the Icehouse Amphitheater. The 246th Army Band will play from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. with a fireworks show to follow. You can view the fireworks from a number of areas in close proximity to the Amphitheater and you can tune in to 93.1 FM The Lake to listen to patriotic music during the show.
