August 2019

In the past year, Town of Lexington residents recycled 1026 tons. These numbers contributed to the County of Lexington becoming the only county to meet DHEC’s annual waste reduction and recycling goals.

Counties have been challenged by 2020 to reduce waste by 3.25 lbs/per person and recycle 40% of municipal waste. In 2018, the County of Lexington posted a waste reduction of 3.17 lbs/per day and recycled at 43.75%.

To maintain these goals, the County of Lexington, Lexington Countywide Stormwater Consortium and Keep the Midlands Beautiful is hosting a FREE Recycling Drop-Off event for county residents on Saturday, August 10, 2019 from 9am - 1pm at Lexington Technology Center (2463 Augusta Highway).

Materials accepted include: electronics (limit eight), paper shredding (limit five boxes) and household hazardous waste (limit eight gallons of paint). Leadership Lexington County will also be collecting men’s clothing and toiletries benefitting Veterans at Central Midlands Transitional Retreat.
