Education & Early Career

Matt Davis is a native of West Columbia, South Carolina, and a Brookland Cayce High School graduate. Matt graduated from the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice in December 1995. He is a graduate of the 262nd Federal Bureau of Investigation National Academy session. He began his career in law enforcement in 1996 with the Lexington Police Department.

Career Advancement

Major Davis rose through the ranks of the department. He was promoted to Lieutenant of the Criminal Investigation Division in 2006 and served there until Chief Green reassigned him to Special Operations Commander in 2012. Major Davis was promoted to Assistant Chief in April of 2015.

Service

Major Davis has served as Commander of the department's Crisis Negotiation Team. He also has served as the departments Public Information Officer. He is a graduate of the FBI Command College and Narcotics Commander School. He serves on both the Midlands Crimestoppers Board and the S.C. Crisis Negotiations Board.

Personal Life

He and his wife, Sandra, live in Lexington with their 3 children, Logan, Kaitlyn, and Landon.
