Police Officer

Salary & Benefits Summary

The base starting salary for a Police Officer is $44,742 with an additional pay increase of 1.5% for an Associates Degree or 3% for a Bachelors Degree, bilingual candidates, or prior certified law enforcement experience. 

Police Officers reach mid-point in their pay grade after three years of employment. Current mid-point salary for Police Officer grade is $53,691.  The current Police Officer grade maximum is $62,639.

Requirements

Applicants must be 21 years of age and posses a valid South Carolina driver's license with vision correctable to 20/20.

Educational and/or experience requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent and have one of the listed minimums of an Associates Degree from an accredited institution or be a certified law enforcement officer or foreign language fluency (tested) or honorable military service or two years public safety experience. 

Applicants must be in good health and be able to meet the Lexington Police Department's physical fitness requirements along with the requirements of the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy.
