March 2014

The Town of Lexington is embarking on an exciting time of change. In the past few years the aesthetic of the town has changed with the implementation of our Vision Plan. The beauty of Lexington is shining through projects such as Lexington Square and the Commercial Façade Improvement Grant Program along with the construction of the I-20/Sunset Blvd. Interchange Beautification Project and 14 Mile Creek Trail. Future transformation will be seen with Project Icehouse which will include a 500 seat amphitheatre. These initiatives are just the beginning of setting the standard for a new blueprint for the Town of Lexington.

Along with changing our appearance through town landmarks, the Town Council will undergo a change with the addition of two new council members. I urge all registered voters to take time and learn about the candidates and cast your vote on Tuesday, March 4 and again on April 8. This is a pivotal time for the Town of Lexington and just as we encouraged public input in the Vision Plan, we encourage your input in selecting your future leadership. These new council members will have a critical role in reviewing and advancing the Vision Plan along with overall leadership to ensure the best quality of life for our citizens and establishing why the Town of Lexington is a place you want to live, work, learn and play.

Our Vision Plan and other projects will be highlighted during my State of the Town Address on Monday, March 3, 2014 at 6:30pm, in Council Chambers. I advise everyone to take time to actively engage themselves by tuning into the address live through our Time Warner Cable station, On Demand via our website or on 107.9FM WLXM radio. You can also replay the March Council meeting or view the PDF document, both available on our website

Town Council, staff and I are proud of all our achievements throughout 2013 and are excited to see what accomplishments we can carry through in 2014. I am honored to call Lexington my hometown and I thank you for entrusting us to make the town the best possible community.
