Adopt-A-Cop
The Lexington Police Department Foundation is an innovative approach to community resource development because it is targeted at specific needs identified by personnel at all levels of the Lexington Police Department. It can provide funding to pilot new programs and assess their effectiveness prior to integration into long-term budgets.

Chaplain Program
Chaplains are available to assist with victims or families during a critical incident, can be present during death notifications, and serve as a liaison with clergy in the community.

Citizen's Police Academy
The Citizen's Police Academy was started in 2004 and provides an opportunity for the Town of Lexington community to learn firsthand about the various operations of the Lexington Police Department.

Community Action Team
At its heart, community oriented policing is a philosophy under which enforcement, prevention, problem solving, and community involvement are used simultaneously to attack crime and its root causes. Because community oriented policing requires a proactive approach to be successful, the police and community must work together as partners in identifying and addressing issues and problems.

Fall Festival
The Lexington Police Department Fall Festival is more than a fund raising event for the "Adopt-A-Cop" foundation and also serves as a fun night out for families with rides, inflatables, food, games, and costume contest with prizes.

National Night Out
The Lexington Police Department has been a long time participant of National Night Out as a way to connect neighbors and neighborhoods with our officers.

Special Needs Community Day
In an effort to connect and meet the needs of all who call the Town of Lexington home, over the past several years the Lexington Police Department has offered a Special Needs Community Day event to provide familiarity and understanding of the role of first responders, their vehicles, and the equipment that they use to those in the special needs community.

Summer Reading Program
Knowing the importance of keeping children motivated to learn over the summer break, Chief Terrence Green started a "Summer Reading Program" in 2015 and as the school year is winding down delivers books to all K-5 and 1st Grade classrooms at Lexington Elementary School and Meadow Glen Elementary School.

For those in the Town of Lexington community who are looking for ways to give back, the Volunteers In Police Services (V.I.P.S.) program provides the opportunity to work with officers at special events and to be an ambassador of the Lexington Police Department.
