Overview

The Lexington Town Council is comprised of a Mayor, Mayor Pro-Tem and five Council members. All members of the Council, including the Mayor, are elected at large.

Members of the Town Council serve a four-year term, with elections conducted every two years, allowing for staggered terms. The Town of Lexington operates under the Council-Administrator form of government.

Council appoints the Town Administrator who oversees the daily operations and carries out policy decisions through Town Staff. The Town Attorney gives legal advice to the Town Council. The Municipal Clerk maintains official records for Council and the Town.

Lexington Town Council meets the first and third Mondays of each month, unless otherwise posted. The meetings are held in-person at 6:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers located on the first floor of Town Hall at 111 Maiden Lane. The Council meetings are broadcast live on the Town’s YouTube channel and will soon return to Spectrum’s Community Information Channel 1301.
