Office of the Municipal Attorney
The Municipal Attorney is the legal advisor to Town Council, and may provide legal advice to the Town Administrator, Department Heads and appointed Boards and Commissions upon request. The Municipal Attorney attends all meetings of Town Council and provides representation regarding all legal matters which may arise in the course of the administration of the Municipal Government. The Municipal Attorney also handles a wide variety of legal issues, overseeing all litigation involving the Town, and may assist in the prosecution of all cases in the Municipal Court.
The Municipal Attorney is appointed by Town Council in accordance with Town of Lexington Code of Ordinances §31.35 and §31.36. The Municipal Attorney's Office cannot provide individual legal advice for members of the public. Individuals requiring legal assistance are advised to contact the South Carolina Bar at 803-799-6653.
