The men and women of the Lexington Police Department are committed to the philosophy of community oriented policing and strive to build partnerships in all facets of our community. Through the establishment of exemplary programs and a proactive approach to problem solving, we strive to enhance the quality of life of our citizens and provide the highest possible quality of public service.

Our foremost concern is the protection of our citizens and merchants and the security of their homes and businesses. The Lexington Police Department consists of 62 personnel, including 53 sworn officers, 1 sworn reserve officer, 2 administrative staff, and 6 chaplains.

The Lexington Police Department currently serves an estimated population of over 20,000 residents and welcomes the challenge of serving a growing residential and business community. By fostering a spirit of involvement and open communication between citizens and police, we seek to build a partnership with the community we serve.

Accreditation

The Lexington Police Department strives to maintain an exemplary level of professionalism and is an international (CALEA) and state (SCLEA) accredited agency. Members of the public are always welcome to ask any member of the Lexington Police Department for assistance.
