Phase I Town of Lexington Traffic Improvement Plan
Proposed Intersection Improvements on
US 378 at Park Road, US 1, and W. Butler Street
Public Information Meeting

SCDOT is very early in the preliminary engineering design stage of this project. The project scope is to construct improvements in the intersections along US Route 378 (Columbia Avenue) at Route S-127 (Park Road), US Route 1/Route S-52 (W. Main Street/Old Chapin Road), and Route S-131/Route S-638 (West Butler Street/Reed Avenue). The purpose of this project is to relieve congestion along the continually developing corridor as well as improve traffic flow. The project will be compatible with the future one-way pairs included in the Town of Lexington's Traffic Improvement Plan.
The project is currently funded only for preliminary engineering work and to begin right-of-way acquisition. Funding to complete right-of-way acquisition or to construct the improvements has not been identified at this time. There are several earmarks available for this project, but the match funding to obtain the earmark funding has not been identified. If funding was presently available for right-of-way construction, the project could begin the right-of-way phase by the fall of 2008 and construction could begin by late 2009.
