Alarm Ordinance
The Lexington Police Department, in conjunction with the South Carolina Police Chiefs Association (SCPCA) Alarm Management Committee, developed an Alarm Ordinance for the Town of Lexington . This ordinance was recently passed by Town Council and requires registration of all alarm systems within the Town limits of Lexington.
Crime Maps Now Online for Public!
Lexington residents now have a new and free tool to map and analyze crime activity occuring within the town. Crime data is now being displayed through the website RAIDS Online. There is even an app for your Apple device. Search the app store!

The men and women of the Police Department are committed to the philosophy of community oriented policing and strive to build partnerships in all facets of our community. Through the establishment of exemplary programs and a proactive approach to problem solving, we strive to enhance the quality of life of our citizens and provide the highest possible quality of public service.
Our foremost concern is the protection of our citizens and merchants and the security of their homes and businesses. Our department consists of 55 personnel, including 47 sworn officers, 4 sworn reserve officers and 4 administrative staff.
The Department currently serves an estimated population of over 20,000 residents and welcomes the challenge of serving a growing residential and business community. By fostering a spirit of involvement and open communication between citizens and police, we seek to build a partnership with the community we serve.
The Lexington Police Department strives to maintain an exemplary level of professionalism and is an international (CALEA) and state (SCLEA) accredited agency. Members of the public are always welcome to ask any member of the Department for assistance.
We invite you to provide both positive and negative feedback on how well we are serving this community. Our office is located in the Lexington Town Hall and is open Monday through Friday from 8 am - 5 pm.
