The Office of Professional Standard’s (OPS) purpose is to ensure that the honor and integrity of the Lexington Police Department is steadfastly maintained. The OPS function is the responsibility of and supervised by the Inspector who is appointed by the Chief of Police.

OPS is responsible for the internal affairs function of the department and to investigate all complaints or allegations of misconduct against the members of the Lexington Police Department. OPS conducts periodic inspections to ensure objective review of Department procedures, personnel, equipmnet, facilities and administrative activities.

OPS ensures continuing compliance with all applicable standards of accreditation through the Commission on Accreditation of Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Accreditation Association as well as the overall quality control function of the Department.
