Chief Terrence Green

Terrence Green was appointed
Chief of Police of the Lexington Police Department on October 2, 2006. Chief Green and Lexington Police Department
embrace the community policing concept and strive to solve problems by building
a partnership with the community we serve.
Chief Green began his law
enforcement career with the University of South Carolina Police Department as a
reserve police officer while studying at the University of South Carolina where
he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from the University of
South Carolina
Chief Green joined the
Lexington Police Department in 1993 as a police officer, rising through the
ranks to Assistant Chief of Police prior to his current position. Chief Green has since received a Master’s
Degree in Public Administration from Strayer University.
He is a graduate of the 217th
class of the Federal Bureau of Investigation National Academy. Chief Green
serves on the FBI National Academy Youth Leadership Selection Board, Keeping
Every Youth Safe Board (KEYS), South Carolina State Accreditation Board, and
the Law Enforcement Advisory Committee.
He is a member of the S. C. Chiefs of Police Association, FBI National
Academy Association, International Association of Chiefs Police, National
Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE), South Carolina Law
Enforcement Association, and the Lexington County Law Enforcement Association.
Major Jay Koon (Assistant Chief)
Jay
Koon is a native of Lexington, South Carolina and is a graduate of Lexington
High School. He received a Bachelor of
Science in Criminal Justice from the University of South Carolina. He worked as a reserve police officer with the
University of South Carolina Division of Law Enforcement & Safety while in
school.
Major
Koon joined the Lexington Police Department in 1994 and has worked his way up
through the ranks since that time.
Major
Koon is a graduate of the Federal Bureau of Investigation National Academy (Session
235), Leadership Lexington County graduate and an Eagle Scout. He is a member of The Lexington Technology
Center 's Advisory Committee. He has
been an assistant baseball coach with the Lexington and Cayce/West Columbia
Dixie Youth teams and a scout leader.
He and his wife, Kim, live in Lexington with their two children and are members
of Saxe-Gotha Presbyterian Church.
