Lexington Elementary School is Disney Planet Challenge Winner
Lexington Elementary School's 3rd Grade (Ms. Spring Bridgers) class has been named the 2011-2012 Disney Planet Challenge winners for their project "Finding Solutions to Storm Drain Pollution."
As part of their project, the class has adopted the Town's Corley St. Park, which boasts a community rain garden. Recently, students, parents and faculty, up-fitted the garden by reorganizing the large rocks, redirected the runoff to stay within the garden, dug a small ditch along the edge of the playground for runoff, and planted three grass plants and four flower plants.
The prize for the students included lunchboxes, water bottles, Disney music, videos, pencil pouches, folders and additional school supplies.
The Town is very proud of the students and teacher for their efforts in helping preserve the quality of life in the Town of Lexington.
