Concert in the Park Series 2007

The Town of Lexington will host the sixth season of its Concerts in the Park series this summer in Virginia Hylton Park .

The concerts are scheduled for the second Sunday in June, July, and August.

Sunday, June 10th, from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. The Going Commando Band , a popular local seven-member group, will kickoff the Concerts in the Park series with their blend of classic rock and roll, blues, country/western, southern rock and beach music.

Sunday, July 8th, from 4 p.m. - 6 p.m. Local steel drum band Pantasia will entertain concert-goers with their Caribbean sound . Music of the islands with a modern flavor makes a fun-filled afternoon in the park. Join us for a Limbo Contest with prizes awarded in the categories of child (under 12), youth (13-17), and adult (18+).

Sunday, August 12th, from 2 p.m. - 6 p.m. will be the Battle of the Bands . Local amateur bands will entertain the crowd and compete for cash prizes. For more information or to register your band, contact Dylan Hunter, Department of Parks, Streets, and Sanitation at 803-359-1027.

All concerts are held in Virginia Hylton Park , Highway 6 at Maiden Lane in Lexington . Admission is free. Remember to bring your lawn chairs or other seating. Once again, a local food vendor will be available to provide refreshments to concert-goers at a minimal cost. The rain location for the concerts is the Lexington Municipal Conference Center , Lexington Municipal Complex, 111 Maiden Lane .
