Any business that is located within the Town of Lexington or that performs work within the town limits is required by the License Ordinance to purchase a business license each year. Licenses are valid from January 1 to December 31 of each year unless otherwise noted. Renewals are due by April 15th of each year to avoid penalties. For non-payment of any or the entire correct license fee, a penalty of 5% of the unpaid fee will be assessed for each month (or portion thereof) after the due date. Temporary and one-time licenses are issued when appropriate and are valid only for the event or job for which the license is issued.
