BASIC BUSINESS LICENSE CHECKLIST FOR NEW BUSINESSES

   

 

This checklist will help you obtain your Town of Lexington Business License. All required approvals must be obtained in order to complete the process. Once all approvals have been issued, submit the completed license application along with your business license fees (and CCFs if applicable) to customer service in the Finance Department. Should you have any questions, please call the Business License Office at (803) 951-4631.

       
A. Businesses locating within the town limits (in existing facilities), must have:
       
    Approval by the Building & Zoning Department:
     
  • To determine if business is a legally allowed business
  • To determine if property is properly zoned for business
  • To determine if the business is classified as a Sexually Oriented Business (S.O.B.)
       
    Approval by the Utlities Department:
     
  • To determine if additional CCFs are required
       
    Approval by the Finance Department:
     
  • Includes completed business license application (includes information on business such as business name, owner, address, tax I.D. #, type of business, etc.)
  • Payment of Business license fees
  • Payment of additional CCFs (if required)
       
B. All contractor or construction licenses:
    Approval by the Building & Zoning Department
    A completed Town of Lexington Business License Application and Fee
