Mayors Message November 2018

Mayor Steve MacDougall

It has been my honor to serve as Mayor and be part of the Veterans Day parade for the past five years. The 16th Annual Lexington County Veterans Parade will take place on Sunday, November 4, 2018 at 3pm along Main St. A special ceremony will take place at the Veterans Monument, located on the S. Lake Dr. side of Town Hall, at the conclusion of the parade. This year’s parade will honor the South Carolina National Guard.

The Veterans Monument was dedicated in 2002 and was crafted from 80 tons of granite. The monument is dedicated to World War II, Korea and Vietnam veterans and includes four faces each inscribed with a quotation.

The Town of Lexington is proud to be home to the Veterans Monument, Veterans Parade and to the many members of our armed forces that served our county. I hope to see everyone out at this year’s parade. Don’t forget to honor those who have served and say Thank You for their bravery and commitment to defending our freedom.
