Mayors Message June 2017

Mayor Steve MacDougall

The Lexington County Museum is a true treasure in our community. Founded in 1970, the museum complex sprawls across seven acres in downtown Lexington, featuring more than 30 historic structures that have been moved to the site from locations throughout the county. .

The museum offers a unique learning opportunity to view structures and artifacts, while providing comprehensive educational tours to a variety of visitors.

With summer in full swing, the museum will offer a variety of events this month. First, the "Murders and Mysteries" Walking Tour of Downtown Lexington will be on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at 8pm. The event is FREE begins at the vacant lot on the 100 block of East Main St. Due to the mature subject matter, we ask that attendees be 18 or over.

Also, the Fourth Annual Family Day is on Saturday, June 24, 2017 from 10am - 1pm at the Lexington County Museum Complex, located at 231 Fox Street. The event is FREE, providing family members of all ages to learn about the history of the county through hands-on programs. A blacksmith will be in attendance to teach guests about metalworking in the 19th century. Hot dogs and chips will be served.
