September 2018

Summer went by in a flash and here we are at the beginning of another school year. Once again, the Lexington Police Department is working hard to educate citizens on proper School Zone Safety. Officers are focused on educating and directing parents and guardians to the proper drop off, pickup and parking areas when traveling on and off of school campuses.

The Town now has seven school resource officers falling under the command of a Corporal in the Special Operations Division. This group is dedicated to the seven schools within our service area, helping provide a safe and secure academic environment for our students.

Additionally, the Community Action Team and department officers will be working sporting events at River Bluff High School. We are excited for this opportunity to engage with our community and provide safety to our residents and guests traveling for athletic activities.

Finally, as we continue to implement various transportation projects, we will work with Lexington School District One Officials to update parents on any potential commute impacts. Council and I are committed to finding solutions to help alleviate traffic congestion in the Town of Lexington.

I wish all the students’ success this academic year and look forward to seeing you at various school district activities!
