Council and I are proud of the men and women of the Lexington Police Department. Not only do they provide stellar service but year after year, they are recognized for their efforts in protecting and serving our citizens.
First and foremost, the achievements start from the top down, as Chief Terrence Green, Major Matt Davis and Lieutenant Chad Snelgrove are all graduates of the Federal Bureau of Investigation National Academy.
Additionally, Chief Green was awarded the “Criminal Justice Award” during the SC Victim Assistance Network Awards Luncheon in April. He was nominated for this award by Victim Advocate Dee Cochran for the support and resources that the Police Department works diligently to provide every victim under his leadership.
The Police Department was also recognized in April by the South Carolina Department of Public Safety during the “2017 DUI Enforcement Recognition & Law Enforcement DUI Challenge” ceremony as the “Agency of the Year” for a department size of 51-100 officers. The Police Department had 200 arrests for DUI in 2017. The department also received the award in 2013 and 2015.
PFC. Nick Thompson won the “Officer of the Year” award for a department size of 51-100 officers. He had 56 DUI arrests in 2017, achieved advanced training and certifications in traffic enforcement and instructor level courses and trained hundreds of teens in “Alive at 25” instruction.
Congratulations to our Police Department for all your honors and thank you for your service!
