Happy New Year! It seems like 2017 disappeared with a blink of an eye, but am proud to say it was another successful year for the Town of Lexington.
We celebrated the one-year anniversary of the Icehouse Amphitheater. In its first year, the venue hosted 50 events and had over 30,000 guests through the gates. It was also named the 2017 Municipal Association of South Carolina Achievement Award Winner.
Also, the Town significantly upgraded our utility infrastructure, including replacing over 90 year-old water lines along East Main St. and reducing pump run times at the wastewater lift station.
Finally, the Town was bestowed several awards in 2017. In addition to the Icehouse Amphitheater, the Town was recognized by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the 19th straight year and Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for the eighth straight year. The Police Department was recognized by National Night Out for their event held each August to fight against crime.
Join me Monday, February 5, 2018 at 6:30pm for our Council Meeting as I deliver my State of the Town Address acknowledging all of our major accomplishments in 2017 and announcing our goals for this year. You may also watch the Address live on our TWC station or view replays at www.lexsc.com.
Town Council and I are excited to embark on a new year as we continue to transform our Vision Plan into reality. My best wishes to everyone - have a happy, healthy and prosperous 2018!
