September 2014

The Town of Lexington has been committed to fulfilling our mission of the Vision Plan and in doing so are continuing to provide additional green amenities that will allow residents to enjoy the scenic nature hidden within our backyards.

Our newest feature is Fourteen Mile Creek Trail. The trail is located off North Lake Dr. and Old Cherokee Rd. and is 3,500 feet long (3/4 mile loop). The green space features several bridges, educational kiosks and an outdoor learning center. Additional amenities include park benches, dog waste receptacles, trash cans and emergency call boxes.

The official grand opening will take place on Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at 10:30am. The project was partially funded through a $100,000 grant from South Carolina Parks, Recreation and Tourism.

We hope that you and your family take time to explore the beauty within the Town of Lexington and all of our gems, like the new Fourteen Mile Creek Trail. We also encourage you to visit our other green spaces like Caractor Park, Corley St. Park, Gibson Pond Park, Lexington Paw Park, Lexington Square Park and Virginia Hylton Park.

For more information about our parks system, visit our Parks Page or to inquire about reserving a picnic shelter at Gibson Pond Park or Virginia Hylton Park, contact (803) 359-1027.

Good luck in the new school year and enjoy the cooler weather and fall festivities!
