November 2013

When Town Council and I embarked on our Vision Plan four years ago, we clearly saw the full potential we all knew our town was destined to become. Since then, we have implemented such projects as Lexington Square Park, the Main St. Business Façade Improvement Grant Program and completed the third season of our downtown Farmers Market!

We will soon open our newest amenity, Lexington Paw Park. The Paw Park is a great quality of life feature and is dedicated to our four-legged family members. This 3-acre park will provide dogs and their owners a wonderful atmosphere to play, socialize and interact. Features include separate play areas for small and large dogs, watering spots, waste stations and park benches. We have decorative fire hydrants from Saxe Gotha Girl Scout Troop #2228. These young ladies will also be assisting with the creation of an agility course for our canine community in the future.

Additional details and contact information for Lexington Paw Park are available on page 2 of Town Topics. We hope that your family and "Fido" take advantage of this great amenity in our community.

In addition to Lexington Paw Park, staff is hard at work putting the finishing touches on the Second Annual Snowball Festival. This year we have expanded the festivities to a four-day event and will feature such activities as Movie in the Square, Concert, Carnival and Tree Lighting at Lexington Square Park, a 5k/10k race, the Snow "Ball" dance and the Christmas Parade. This really is "Good Stuff"!

Additional details and website information for Snowball Festival 2013 are available on page 2 of Town Topics. We hope that you and your family participate in our four days of family-friendly fun!

Our town is a place people want to live, work, play, worship and raise a family. Town Council and I hope you can see that we are working hard to improve the quality of life here in Lexington through our Vision Plan. Stay tuned as many more projects will be implemented in 2014, including the Interstate 20/Sunset Blvd. Welcome Entrance Beautification Project, Project Icehouse, a lifestyle park/plaza on Main St. and S. Church St. and the 14 Mile Creek Trail.

I hope you and your family have a Happy Thanksgiving!
