June 2012

Summer has officially arrived – school is out, parks are bustling and the sun is gleaming on Lake Murray. June also celebrates Father's Day, a special day in my life, as I know it is to all Dads. Not only do I have the privilege to have three beautiful daughters and two grandchildren with another on the way, due on Thanksgiving Day. I am also proud to have been the founding "father" of our Vision Plan - VisionLexington.

Council and I were pleased to approve the final document at the May Council meeting and are "Focusing on the Future." I am happy to report that we have already completed the first project, Lexington Square. The Town is also underway with implementing additional projects such as the new expanded indoor Farmers Market, I-20/Sunset Blvd. Beautification Interchange, construction of Fourteen Mile Creek Trail and expansion to our annual Christmas Festivities.

To help keep you informed, visit our website at www.lexsc.com to view a full copy of the approved plan, guiding principles and goals, along with future phases. There is also a dedicated page to current projects which will include descriptions and photos, to keep you up to date. As we move forward with future projects and phases, we will continue to keep you abreast on Channel Two, Town Topics and various outlets.

As you can see, the Town is working hard to enhance our quality of life through productive, worthy projects focusing on Downtown Revitalization, Economic/Community Development and Beautification/Corridor Enhancements. Our mission is to strategically position Lexington for the future and continue to make this the community you choose to live, work, play and learn and raise your family.

May you and your family have a wonderful summer.
