June 2011

Greetings! The summer sun is shining on the Town of Lexington as we celebrate our 150th Anniversary.

First and foremost, we are excited to open the Town's Farmers Market, located in the heart of downtown Lexington (116 E. Main St.). The Market will operate the 2nd and 4th Saturday from 9am-1pm, June – October. You will be able to purchase a variety of items including produce, plants, soaps, flowers, baked goods, cheeses, jams, meat, eggs, milk, ice cream, pottery, lace, grits, cider and seafood. Additional activities such as cooking demonstrations, will be part of Market Days. Stay tuned for more details and always check our website and social media sites for the latest information.

Another way to beat the heat, is to experience one of our four wonderful parks. Whether you enjoy the playgrounds at Virginia Hylton Park, kayak at Gibson Pond Park, cool down at the splash pond at Corley Road Park or have a family cookout at Caractor Park, there is something for everyone. Take time with your family to breathe in the beauty and early summer breezes of Lexington.

Finally, these amenities would not be possible without the support of you, our Town residents. As we move through 2011, the Town is continuing to develop our Vision Plan. I encourage every resident to attend a public input session (TBA) and voice your opinion on how to shape our future. It takes a vision to create the future – let's work together to shine a bright light on our home, the Town of Lexington.
